Artist's Comments

day after day she waited,
her memories a muted haze

she could no longer recall her reasons,
the ingrained pain numbed only by time.

years and years and years passed,
only her heart's yearning was unceasing

all that she longed and longed and longed for
was never returning forever hurting.

I wish we had an Illustrative category. Anyway, here's my attempt to continue the Forgotten Fairytales series (in vain). But I think it thoroughly spells my obsession with Waterhouse. ^^

Yes it was freezing cold when we did the shoot. I've a knack for torturing my models, we've established that by now. ^^;

This image is included in my new postcard book, it will be available for sale at the Singapore Toy Games and Comic Con next weekend. I'm sharing a booth at the Artist Alley with *noah-kh so do drop by if you can =D

Also~!! My new site is up~ drop by and take a look if you've some time and let me know what you think ^^ - zhangjingna.com

PS: I'm also heading to LA and NY next month, read more here.

Absolutely beautiful! As always, you've created a visual beauty. Here, it evokes a moody fairy-tale piece, somewhat reminding me of a cross of Ophelia and of the Frog Prince. I'm not sure what to suggest--I like the fact that her skin has a pearl-pink hue to it, rather than a milk-white skin tone that I feel is often vied for in dark fairy tale artwork.

I'm not a very good critiquer, but perhaps those blades of grass in the lower right corner could be considered somewhat distractive. I think they detract from everything else in the photo. But I could be wrong.

This is in the same genre as 'Ophelia' by Sir John Everett Millais, a Pre-Raphaelite painter. Her facial features is sensual, melancholy tranquility and exquisite which the Pre-Raphaelite and the Raphaelite attempted to capture. You truly have achieved this here. The color of her hair, flowers and skin is pronounced by all the murky green and touch of brown in the background. The composition is centered, even though half of the photo is more busy than the other half. The lighting on her is a bit stark considering the background, which is great for fashion. May I suggest less contrast of shadow and light to have the quality of faerie-tale. It has the beginning of ethereal sense which I believe you want to convey. When awaiting for so long, one does tend to fade. Still, the photo is gorgeous. Your technique is perfection.

This is really beautiful. ^^ I love her pose - especially her arms. It's perfect! I only wish she was looking at the camera - it's the only thing I can think of that would make this more communicative. Still, fantastic job. =)

My knowledge on photography is minimum, so I'll gladly let others qualified for this to do critiques :) But overall, it looks so natural and so eerie, bewitching. It's your usual style and I adore it ^^

I'm not the greatest on critiquing so I'll leave that to someone else.
But I love it! I like how the darkness of the water sorta melds with the dress, as if it's apart of it.
