I love the flowers mixed with the skin, it looks so feminine. My own work is about mixing women to vegetal elements, so I like yours too The blue hair, the pink make up and the face expression gives to the painting so kind of magic and strange beauty. It could be a human, a doll or some creature from an exotic planet ... The dark background gives some mystery and makes the light of the face even more striking but in a smooth, soft way. The whole painting evokes a feminine, mysterious, dark (but not gothic) and poetic atmosphere. Maybe the girl could be a spirit, a ghost, a creature from a fairytale... Your work is really beautiful, go on ... Eloise sur la Lune, between Nantes & Reunion Island, France
I'm prefacing this by saying I'm not a photographer, so grain of salt there. Anyway, I adore the way you use color here, the blue from your hair really sticks out against the black and against your skin and just looks stunning. It helps that you're a stunning person as well, but the camera is able to capture all of that grace and life to show it to the audience. The flowers being bright also helps to offset the paleness of your skin and the vibrancy of the blue in your hair. I also really like that this is a self portrait from the Motherland Chronicles, it really fits with the other pieces by being a seemingly simple image that when looked at manages to provoke the audience into introspection. All of the photos from this set (and I've only seen the photos and a handful of the paintings) are engaging and lovely to look at and really just stunning.
If I had money I'd buy a print of this, it's that good. I guess the only downside would be that this piece if very much like many self-portraits in that its the subject alone in the dark essentially, which is amazing but not very original.
You continue to amaze! Your work with color texture light and expression is...beyond my meager ability to proper justice to. The blue and white in your hair is simply breathtaking! The water is not a visible element but it brings an ethereal feel to this museum quality piece. You also chose your model very well. Her face and expression move the heart. A triumph. You are a professional artist and you work is...gloriously beautiful.
