I am honestly glad I came across this Picture.
I thought it was a drawing/painting at first, but then I saw, it is a Photo.
I'm absolutely certain, there has been some photomanipulation on it, but it does absolutely help the entire thing.

The composition, I love a lot.
I like how the flowers kinda seem to grow up, from the bottom, and the further it goes up, the more unorganized it looks. At first it irked me a little, but thinking about it, and especially with the title, it began to give me the idea of water.

Rusalka in russian is a mermaid. I know that, for my mother tongue is russian. I've grown up with russian cartoons and fairytales.

I got the thought of her, jumping into the water. Like the flowers represent the flow the water would have, being stirred up by the body, as her feet push through the surface, and at the top, where the water will be the most turbulent, the flowers mirror that disorder.
So that absolutely goes with the theme for me.

About the model...
She is absolutely gorgeous. I like this natural-supernatural beauty she has.
She has subtle make up, but it looks perfectly natural. Even the dark lip looks, like it has to be there.

That neck piece is also incredibly beautiful. It has an organic look, especially the thin chain pieces, that kinda flow with her body shape, they just put so much movement into this static picture.

Furthermore, her expression.
I know the Hans Christian Andersen (?) fairytale, of the little mermaid, deciding to give up her family in the ocean, because she fell for a human.

She looks really thoughtful, melancholic. Almost as though she is about to cry. And it absolutely works with the - I'll call it story-layers this picture has - because you can absolutely imagine her, in this field of flowers, rethinking her decision, on becoming a human. Especially knowing the outcome of the fairytale, where she ends up dying for her love.

I could possibly go on for ever, but I think, my critique did it's job, on describing the thoughts I got on this. Also, any person looking at this, even after reading this critique should still be able to keep enjoying this picture on a personal level.

Thank you for reading this!

I absolutely love this, the delicate papery flowers, the water around her, her hair flowing out in that way... This is probably one of my favorite works of yours. It's all very dreamlike, I love it a lot.

I do think that the banner takes something away from it, but seeing as it was meant to be uncensored, it isn't a huge deal. I WISH I had more knowledge than just "This looks right" or "This doesn't look quite right" so that I could write a critique, but I don't, so that's all I can offer to you!

This whole series is phenomenal. This work in particular is outstanding, but i find the banner disruptive. A more organic thing to do would have been to use the surrounding flowers to tactfully cover, or maybe some diaphanous cloth. The movement generated by the circular wreathing of flowers is abruptly halted by the black bar of the banner. Another alternative would've been some more ornamentation strung across. But what do i know? 8)

Lovely setup. Very painterly. :)

I only iwsh this had existed sometime ago, as it would have been wonderful reference for my painting Ophelia II. I had great trouble with painting water-submerged hair.

Great picture *w*

I really like how you arranged the whole picture, especially all the flowers. At first glance, I didn´t notice she was partially underwater, and I was asking myself how you´d make the flowers float like this. Took me some time to understand the woman and the flower are floating in water, because the water is so subtle.
I especially enjoy the details in this picture, though. The flowers, some of which look like they´re rotting already, the necklace, the way her hair is arranged, the lighting ... just plain gorgeous.

Is this a photomontage, or did you arrange and shoot it exactly like this?
