Read Moonbeam13's journal:
[link]Since moonbeam had direct contact with legal advisers I trust what was said. You don't lose your copyright but it does not mean there're no changes being made to the copyright laws.
Sorry about the confusion to losing your rights, I worried, I -did- do research for a whole day because I wanted to make sure I wasn't jumping in to conclusions that's why my post was so much later than others. Yes I do know the bill wasn't out, but there are actions being taken so I wanted pass the words around for awareness.
"Orphaned works are copyrighted works for which the author/owner cannot be found either by searching the registrations on file at the Copyright Office or by typical research tactics such as library collections and Google."
The new links everywhere overthrowing the initial ones make the case less severe, but if you read it properly, it does not mean that it does not affect you.
For those who insist that all previous references were from 2005-2006, please make sure you did your research too, this is dated 13 March 2008:

But don't say "Don't worry about it! It won't pass!" because that's what WILL get it passed.
And don't say "It's nothing like that!" because there ARE people that profit, and they're NOT us.

And Mark Simon's best piece of advice for artists is to contact the media and get them involved by conveying your story, sharing your art, and explaining how this is going to effect you.
